Adobe Dreamweaver Cs4

Yesterday Tom asked me what is Adobe Dreamweaver Cs4? I told him that Adobe Dreamweaver (formerly Macromedia Dreamweaver) is a web development application originally created by Macromedia, and is now developed by Adobe Systems, which acquired Macromedia in 2005.
Dreamweaver is available for both Mac and Windows operating systems. Recent versions have incorporated support for web technologies such as CSS, JavaScript, and various server-side scripting languages and frameworks including ASP, ColdFusion, and PHP.Dreamweaver allows users to preview websites in locally-installed web browsers. It also has site management tools such as FTP/SFTP and WebDAV file transfer and synchronization features, the ability to find and replace lines of text or code by search terms and regular expressions across the entire site, and a templating feature that allows single-source update of shared code and layout across entire sites without server-side includes or scripting. The behaviors panel also enables use of basic JavaScript without any coding knowledge, and integration with Adobe's Spry AJAX framework offers easy access to dynamically-generated content and interfaces.Dreamweaver can use third-party "Extensions" to extend core functionality of the application, which any web developer can write (largely in HTML and JavaScript). Dreamweaver is supported by a large community of extension developers who make extensions available (both commercial and free) for most web development tasks from simple rollover effects to full-featured shopping carts. Dreamweaver, like other HTML editors, edits files locally then uploads them to the remote web server using FTP, SFTP, or WebDAV. Dreamweaver CS4 now supports the Subversion (SVN) version control system.

Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset (DaRT)

Yesterday my friend Rogues told me about Microsoft Dart so I thought of telling u all what it is all about as it is new and not many people know about it.Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Tool set, a core component of the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack for Software Assurance, helps IT teams make PCs safer to use, keeps employees productive, and enables desktops that are easier and less expensive to manage. Administrators can easily recover PCs that have become unusable, rapidly diagnose probable causes of issues, and quickly repair unbootable or locked-out systems, all faster than the average time it takes to re image the machine. When necessary, you can also quickly restore critical lost files. Many IT departments take a proactive approach to backing up network data, but tend to be reactive in planning for desktop system failures. The most common solution is to re-image the machine, but that can result in loss of user settings, personalization, and potentially data.
  • Advantages of DaRT
Cost savings through reduced downtime
Using the tool set helps your IT staff work more quickly and simplifies help desk support, reducing your overall support costs as well as lost productivity caused by downtime.
Rapid recovery for greater user productivity
The 14 tools in the toolset provide many options for recovery, even when Windows Safe Mode or normal boot will not function. The easy-to-use, offline boot environment helps IT teams quickly restart computers. They can recover deleted files and remove malware from infected systems while the computer is offline. This helps protect other computers on the network and reduces the amount of time the computer is unavailable.
Accelerate IT responsiveness
The tool set helps IT professionals quickly respond to and resolve user issues. Key capabilities include Emergency Repair Disk (ERD) Commander, which boots unresponsive systems into a familiar Windows-like repair environment; Crash Analyzer, which helps determine the most likely cause of a crash; and System Restore, which lets IT staff safely remove changes that could be causing the system to malfunction.

Microsoft Office 2007

Microsoft Office 2007 (officially called 2007 Microsoft Office System) is the most recent Windows version of the Microsoft Office System, Microsoft's productivity suite. Formerly known as Office 12 in the initial stages of its beta cycle, it was released to volume license customers on November 30, 2006 and made available to retail customers on January 30, 2007. These are, respectively, the same dates Windows Vista was released to volume licensing and retail customers. Office 2007 contains a number of new features, the most notable of which is the entirely new graphical user interface called the Fluent User Interface (initially referred to as the Ribbon User Interface), replacing the menus and toolbars – which have been the cornerstone of Office since its inception – with a tabbed toolbar, known as the Ribbon. Office 2007 requires Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or higher, Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 or higher, Windows Vista or Windows 7.Office 2007 is the last version of Microsoft Office available for Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. The 'Ribbon User Interface' is a task-oriented Graphical User Interface (GUI). It features a central menu button, widely known as the 'Office Button'. The Ribbon Interface stayed in Microsoft Office 2010. Office 2007 also includes new applications and server-side tools. Chief among these is Groove, a collaboration and communication suite for smaller businesses, which was originally developed by Groove Networks before being acquired by Microsoft in 2005. Also included is Office SharePoint Server 2007, a major revision to the server platform for Office applications, which supports "Excel Services", a client-server architecture for supporting Excel workbooks that are shared in real time between multiple machines, and are also viewable and editable through a web page. Microsoft FrontPage has been removed from the Office suite entirely. It has been replaced by Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer, which is aimed towards development of SharePoint portals. Its designer-oriented counterpart Microsoft Expression Web is targeted for general web development. However, neither application is included in any of the Office suites. Speech recognition and handwriting recognition are now part of Windows Vista. Speech and ink components have been removed from Office 2007.Handwriting and speech recognition work with Office 2007 only on Windows Vista or Windows XP Tablet PC Edition. However, XP users can use an earlier version of Office to use speech recognition.

Microsoft Silverlight

Yesterday Tom asked me what is Microsoft Silverlight so i told him that Silverlight is a cross
browser, cross-platform and cross-device browser plug-in that helps companies design, develop and deliver applications and experiences on the Web. A free download that installs in seconds, Silverlight enables a new class of rich, secure and scalable cross-platform experiences. Silverlight 3 introduces major media enhancements, out of browser support allowing Web applications to work on the desktop; significant graphics improvements including perspective 3D graphics support, GPU acceleration and H.264 video support; and many features to improve RIA development productivity. To fully integrate all the .NET developer tools, Visual Studio 2008, Visual Studio 2010 and Visual Web Developer Express support a fully editable and interactive designer for Silverlight.Silverlight 3 offers a new set of features for building light-weight, sandboxed companion experiences for the Web that run on the desktop. Silverlight out of browser allows websites to build even closer, persistent relationships with customers. It enables the application to be placed in a restricted store on the user’s machine; and then provide a link directly to it from the user’s desktop or start menu. This is all enabled within Silverlight 3 without any additional download of run time or the need to write applications in a different way. An application can now be easily found on the user’s desktop or start menu, and launched with a single click. In addition, it can test if the network is connected, it can update itself, and can also have access to Isolated Storage. Taken together, these features represent a radical upgrade to the web experience:
  • Desktop shortcuts and start menu support. Place an application on the desktop and be one click away from your customer.
  • Run outside of browser. You no longer need the distraction of the browser chrome.
  • Safer, more secure, sandboxed. An application can be trusted without security warnings, keeping your customers safer.
  • Consumer friendly non-administrator install. Applications are held in a cache and do not require any privileges to run.
  • Built in auto-update. An application will check for new versions on the server and update on launch.
  • Connectivity detection (in browser, out of browser) – can detect a loss of connection and then chose to cache users work until the reconnect.
  • Demonstrates dynamic languages (Python and Ruby) by showing the DLR Console sample.
Things that Silver Light can do:

Dynamic Languages:

Dynamic languages provide an interactive approach to developing Silverlight-based applications. You can also use them to enable scripting for users of a Silverlight-based application.

Audio And Video

Silverlight includes support to play audio and video files.

Images

In Silverlight, you have several options for displaying images such as pictures and diagrams.

Deep Zoom

Deep Zoom provides the ability to interactively view high-resolution images in Silverlight. You can zoom in and out of images rapidly without affecting the performance of your application.

Control Templets

In Silverlight, you create a control template when you want to customize a control's visual structure and visual behavior. Controls have many properties, such as Background,Foreground and Font Family, that you can set to specify different aspects of the control's appearance. However, the changes that you can make by setting these properties are limited. You can use the Control Template class to create a template that provides additional customization.

Data Binding to Controls

Most Silverlight-based applications display data in controls. In many cases, the data is a business object or a collection of business objects, such as stock quotes, headlines, or images. In addition, you often want to enable the user to select an item from a list and then display details about that item in another control, such as a text box.

LINQ TO XML

You can parse XML data in Silverlight by using either Language-Integrated Query (LINQ) to XML or the XmlReader class. One common XML scenario is parsing and transforming RSS feeds and displaying the content on a site. Because RSS is an XML format, LINQ to XML can be used to easily query and transform the RSS feed.
RSS feeds typically contain news content, but they can contain anything that can be organized into discrete items. In its simplest form, an RSS feed consists of a channel, which has a title, link, and description. An RSS feed can also contain one or more item elements, each of which has a title, link, description, and possibly other elements.

Syndication Feeds

This describes how to create a Silverlight client that can access and display a syndication service that exposes either an RSS 2.0 or Atom 1.0 syndication feed.

Web Services

Silverlight has built-in support for communicating with Web services.

History Of Microsoft

Today John asked me how was Microsoft set up and who all found it with Mr.Bill Gates. So I told him that Microsoft Corporation is a multinational computer technology corporation that develops, manufactures, licenses, and supports a wide range of software products for computing devices. The company was founded in 1975 by Mr. Bill Gates and Mr. Paul Allen. Microsoft headquarter is in Redmond, Washington, United States.Microsoft rose to dominate the home computer operating system market with MS-DOS in the mid-1980s, followed by the Windows line of operating systems. Many of its products have achieved near-ubiquity in the desktop computer market.Microsoft possesses footholds in other markets, with assets such as the MSNBC cable television network, the MSN Internet portal, and the Microsoft Encarta multimedia encyclopedia. The company also markets both computer hardware products such as the Microsoft mouse and the Microsoft Natural keyboard, as well as home entertainment products such as the Xbox, Xbox 360, Zune and MSN TV.The company's initial public stock offering (IPO) was in 1986; the ensuing rise of the company's stock price has made four billionaires and an estimated 12,000 millionaires from Microsoft employees.Throughout its history the company has been the target of criticism, including monopolistic business practices and anti-competitive strategies including refusal to deal and tying. The U.S. Department of Justice and the European Commission, among others, have ruled against Microsoft for antitrust violations. One of Bill Gates' key visions for the company was to to get a workstation running our software onto every desk and eventually in every home.Microsoft has footholds in other markets besides operating systems and office suites, with assets such as the MSNBC cable television network, the MSN Web portal, and the Microsoft Encarta multimedia encyclopedia. The company also markets both computer hardware products such as the Microsoft mouse and home entertainment products such as the Xbox, Xbox 360, Zune and MSN TV.The company is run by a Board of Directors consisting of ten people, made up of mostly company outsiders. The ten board members are elected every year at the annual shareholders' meeting, and those who do not get a majority of votes must submit a resignation to the board, which will subsequently choose whether or not to accept the resignation. There are five committees within the board which oversee more specific matters. These committees include the Audit Committee, which handles accounting issues with the company including auditing and reporting; the Compensation Committee, which approves compensation for the CEO and other employees of the company; the Finance Committee, which handles financial matters such as proposing mergers and acquisitions; the Governance and Nominating Committee, which handles various corporate matters including nomination of the board; and the Antitrust Compliance Committee, which attempts to prevent company practices from violating antitrust laws.n 1987, Microsoft adopted its current logo, the so-called Pac-Man Logo, designed by Scott Baker. According to the March 1987 Computer Reseller News Magazine, "The new logo, in Helvetica italic typeface, has a slash between the o and s to emphasize the soft part of the name and convey motion and speed." Dave Norris, a Microsoft employee, ran an internal joke campaign to save the old logo, which was green, in all uppercase, and featured a fanciful letter O, nicknamed the blibbet, but it was discarded.
Microsoft's logo with the "Your potential. Our passion.tag line below the main corporate name, is based on the slogan Microsoft had as of 2008. In 2002, the company started using the logo in the United States and eventually started a TV campaign with the slogan, changed from the previous tag line of Where do you want to go today?.Since the 1980s, Microsoft has been the focus of much controversy in the computer industry. The majority of criticism has been for its business tactics, often described with the motto embrace, extend and extinguish. Microsoft initially embraces a competing standard or product, then extends it to produce their own version which is then incompatible with the standard, which in time extinguishes competition that does not or cannot use Microsoft's new version. These and other tactics have resulted in lawsuits brought by companies and governments, and billions of dollars in rulings against Microsoft. In January 2009, Opera Software ASA filed a complaint to the European Commission stating that Microsoft's inclusion of Internet Explorer with Windows-based personal computers is a violation of European competition laws.Microsoft even has stake in Apple (Mac).
